The right choice for roof waterproofing

ISOBUD TPO membrane — roof waterproofing

The ISOBUD TPO membrane is a modern, high-quality waterproofing system. ISOBUD roofing membranes meet safety standards, are convenient and easy to install, and last for decades.

ISOBUD TPO roofing membranes, based on thermoplastic polyolefin, are produced with modern technology at the plant in the Republic of Belarus. The system is particularly widely used for lightweight roofs on industrial and factory buildings.

ISOBUD TPO roofing membranes stand out for:

A system approach

The ISOBUD membrane suits every lightweight roof structure: new build, refurbishment and green roofs. The membranes are bitumen-compatible and root-resistant, so additional separation layers are almost never required.

Versatility

ISOBUD waterproofing membranes come in a range of thicknesses and widths. The top surface is pearl white or grey and the underside black or white, depending on the membrane type. A broad range of system accessories simplifies installation and makes complete solutions possible.

Durability

ISOBUD TPO membranes resist UV radiation, weathering and ageing. They protect the roof for many years, whether exposed or under ballast — gravel, patio slabs or planting.

Fast, dependable seam sealing

The membranes are laid loose and welded at the seams with hot air. A torch temperature range of 380–480 °C makes welding reliable: every seam is sealed without complex preparation. Mechanical fasteners or ballast protect the roof against wind loads.

Environmentally sound and easy to recycle

ISOBUD TPO membranes are free of halogens, plasticisers and heavy metals. They release no harmful emissions and weld without smoke or odour. After decades in service the membranes can be recycled or thermally treated leaving no residue.

Build-up of the ISOBUD ROOF CLASSIC system with the ISOBUD TPO membrane

ISOBUD ROOF CLASSIC

Non-trafficked roof on steel profiled decking with a TPO membrane covering

The roof structure is protected by a specialised aluminium-faced membrane with a high vapour barrier performance, including at the fastening points. The membrane resists mechanical damage and carries service loads, including the weight of a person.

The membrane grade is chosen to suit the building and the internal humidity: lightweight versions for dry and normal conditions, reinforced types where humidity is high or condensation is a risk.

The build-up uses two types of insulation: a lower layer of medium-density mineral wool boards keeps project costs down, while the upper layer is a high-rigidity board that distributes loads evenly.

The key feature of the system is a TPO membrane 1.2 and 1.5 mm thick with high fire safety ratings to the Russian GOST classification (flammability G2, ignitability V2, flame spread RP1). This places the system in fire hazard class KP0 and allows it to be used with no limit on roof area.

Applications — CLASSIC

Roofs of large industrial and commercial buildings with few services at roof level. Also suitable for major refurbishment of existing roofs with complete replacement of the insulation layers.

Build-up of the ISOBUD ROOF SMART (RUF, XPS) system with the ISOBUD TPO membrane

ISOBUD ROOF SMART (RUF, XPS)

Non-trafficked roof on steel profiled decking with combined insulation

The vapour barrier is an aluminium-faced membrane with high vapour tightness even at the fastening points, resistant to mechanical damage and to foot traffic during maintenance.

The lower insulation layer is non-combustible mineral wool at least 50 mm thick, which secures the fire performance of the build-up. The upper layer is extruded polystyrene with excellent thermal performance and load resistance.

A separation layer of glass fleece with a density of at least 100 g/m² is laid between the TPO waterproofing membrane and the upper insulation layer.

Waterproofing is provided by high-strength ISOBUD TPO membranes 1.2 and 1.5 mm thick with fire safety ratings G2, RP1, V2, giving the build-up fire hazard class KP0 and allowing it to be used on large-area roofs.

Applications — SMART (RUF, XPS)

Roofs of large public and industrial buildings with substantial service loads: maintenance of building services, roof-mounted equipment and regular snow clearing. Suitable for major refurbishment with replacement of all insulation layers.

Build-up of the ISOBUD ROOF SMART (RUF, PIR) system with the ISOBUD TPO membrane

ISOBUD ROOF SMART (RUF, PIR)

Non-trafficked roof on steel profiled decking with combined insulation

The system is designed for long-life roofs with elevated fire safety and mechanical strength requirements. The build-up includes two main insulation layers.

The lower layer is RUF-grade mineral wool at least 50 mm thick, non-combustible (NG). The upper layer is rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) board, flammability group G1.

The surface protection layer is an ISOBUD TPO membrane 1.2 and 1.5 mm thick with fire safety ratings G2, RP1, V2. This gives the roof system fire hazard class KP0 with no limit on roof area.

Applications — SMART (RUF, PIR)

Long-life, energy-efficient and safe roof coverings that carry heavy service loads and meet strict fire safety requirements.

Advantages — SMART (RUF, PIR)

  • Maximum fire protection, even on large areas.
  • Strength and reliability: the build-up carries the substantial mechanical loads found on industrial and public buildings.
  • Wide applicability: shopping centres, sports complexes, warehouses and logistics terminals.
  • Easy to install and refurbish: an old roof is quickly replaced together with all insulation layers.

Components — SMART (RUF, PIR)

№ Layer Unit Size, packaging Consumption per m²

Build-up of the ISOBUD ROOF OPTIMA (PIR) system with the ISOBUD TPO membrane

ISOBUD ROOF OPTIMA (PIR)

Non-trafficked roof on a cast reinforced concrete deck with mechanically fastened PIR boards and TPO membrane

The vapour barrier is a torch-applied bituminous material that keeps moisture out of the roof system and resists mechanical damage during installation.

Insulation is provided by rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) boards, flammability group G1. Their low thermal transmittance reduces the thickness and weight of the build-up compared with traditional solutions, and the high board strength extends the interval between repairs.

The covering is an ISOBUD TPO membrane 1.5 mm thick with fire safety ratings G2, RP1, V2, giving fire hazard class KP0 regardless of roof size.

Fastening uses DAARTS telescopic anchors with 6.3 mm concrete screws or sharp-point screws with polyamide sleeves.

Applications — OPTIMA (PIR)

Year-round installation on roofs with cast reinforced concrete structures. Industrial, civil, residential and public buildings with substantial loads in service and maintenance.

Advantages — OPTIMA (PIR)

  • A highly dependable vapour barrier: torch-applied bituminous material resistant to mechanical damage.
  • Efficient insulation: low-conductivity PIR boards reduce the thickness and weight of the insulation layers.
  • Enhanced fire performance: the 1.2 and 1.5 mm membrane with fire safety ratings G2, RP1, V2 gives the roof class KP0.
  • Durable and easy to maintain thanks to strong materials and fasteners.
  • Versatile: industrial, residential and public buildings, including major refurbishment.
